Dear Northwest Families,
Welcome back to school!
We know our Northwest community has been affected deeply this summer by health, safety, and social concerns. School may look a little different this year as we start remotely for safety reasons, but we are anxious to see our returning students and welcome our new 7th graders! We are starting the year off with a caring and competent faculty and staff with diverse perspectives, backgrounds and experiences who are ready to motivate, challenge, and engage our students.
This year we hope to eventually return to in-school learning when it is safe to do so. Where we can continue our focus on building school and community culture by providing rigorous academics, leadership, and enrichment opportunities, as well as performing arts and athletic opportunities for students. Please continue to regularly visit our website as well as tune in to Canvas announcements for more up to date changes, and events to come.
Our Land Trust fund efforts continue to be focused on Reading intervention. Our data and test results indicate amazing growth in reading scores which increase throughout both 7th and 8th grades! We want to continue this growth and competency to ensure success as student enter high school.
As always, we look forward to hearing and collaborating with parents and guardians at school this year. You are always welcome to get involved in the school community. Even though middle school students want their independence developmentally, it is always a community building experience to have parents, guardians, and families be a strong part of our environment, and results in a safer, more connected school.
We are excited to kick off an amazing year. We look forward to working with our students, and are here for any questions or concerns you may have.
