Reading Classes
On September 10, students from Ms. Bramscher's reading classes traveled to the Park City library to meet Nathan Hale, author of Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales. The class recently read his book, Donner Dinner Party, so they were very excited to meet the author of a book one student described as "low-key fire!" Mr. Hale presented a comic-writing workshop, then gave a hilarious speech. He started by talking about how Garfield the cat had inspired his writing, then launched into a fascinating account of President Garfield's life. He drew comics the whole time he was speaking, and the kids were riveted. They had never even heard of President James A. Garfield, let alone knew that he had such a fascinating life! After the speech, our students met the author and had their books signed. They ended their day at Java Cow Ice Cream, with many students opting for the cookies 'n' cream. It was a fun and educational day!
