About Me

I was born in Dallas as the first child of two teachers.  I went through 12 years of public school there and attended the University of Texas at Austin twice, once for a bachelor’s degree and then for a master’s degree, both in Business.  I have been employed as a consulting analyst, an academic researcher, a preschool teacher and a youth minister.

Utah has been my home since 1999 when my husband and I moved to Salt Lake City with our two sons.  I have grown to love the mountains and the thrill of snowboarding.  After many years of volunteering and fund-raising for schools, I decided to pursue a new career as a middle school math teacher.

Mathematics is one of the ways I make sense of our world and I believe that while it is useful and necessary for life, math is also BEAUTIFUL.  My hope is that my students find that beauty as they learn to think and solve problems using the tools that math provides.

The one book I recommend to any parent of a teenager or pre-teen is BRAINSTORM: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain by Daniel J. Siegel, M.D.
