Celebrating Sayre Posey: Utah's 2025 Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Posey teaches 8th grade U.S. History at Northwest Middle School. Ms. Posey leads students  through rigorous learning experiences supported by strong relationships. Her students have earned recognition at both regional and state levels for their National History Day exhibit projects.

Posey comes from a family of educators. During college, she volunteered with at-risk students in after-school programs. This experience inspired her teaching journey beginning in Baltimore City Public Schools before moving to Utah. Her expertise in literacy-based social studies instruction has been key to helping linguistically diverse students succeed during her four years at Northwest Middle School.
